Edward THE BLACK PRINCE

Edward the Black Prince was son of Edward III, king of England, and Philippa of Hainault. They called him the Black Prince because of his black armor.

During the Hundred Years' War at the Battle of Poitiers, the Black Prince managed to capture French King John II, which he then held prisoner at the Tower of London. The year? 1356.

In 1361, the Black Prince married his widowed cousin Joan, the Countess of Kent.

Ed was the Prince of Aquitaine from 1362 - 1372.

His son Richard became King of England in 1377 as Richard II.

The Black Prince's brother was John of Gaunt.
