            Charles V was also called the Wise, or 
			Le Sage, in French. 
            His father was 
									 John II the Good. 
              
            Charles was king of France from April 8, 
			1364, until his death in 1380. 
            In 1369, Charles started building the
  Bastille fortress at Paris as protection 
			from the English.
