The Battle of Poltava was part of the Great Northern War and a bad day for Sweden.


WHO FOUGHT THE BATTLE OF POLTAVA?

Peter I the Great of Russia with 80,000 men fought against Charles XII of Sweden with 17,000 men.


WHO WON THE BATTLE OF POLTAVA?
Peter won a huge victory. In fact, his success spelled the end of Sweden's glorious and powerful days. Russia was now the new top dog in eastern Europe.
