AUGUST 13, 1704


The Battle of Blenheim was part of the War of the Spanish Succession.

Blenheim is today's Blindheim, a town in Bavaria, Germany.
 

Who fought THE BATTLE OF BLENHEIM?

The British, Dutch, and Austrians with 52,000 troops,
led by John Churchill, who was the duke of Marlborough,
and Prince Eugene of Savoy

vs.


the French and Bavarians with 60,000 troops,
led by Marshal Tallard.

 

Who won THE BATTLE OF BLENHEIM?
The British, Dutch, and Austrians won, Tallard was taken prisoner.

The English built a huge residence in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, called it Blenheim Palace, and gave it to John Churchill, the Duke of Marlborough in honor of his greatest success at the Battle of Blenheim, 1704.

John Churchill procreated and in 1874, Winston Churchill was born at this address.
