Louis was king of France 936 - 954. He was a Carolingian and the son of Charles III the Simple. Louis' mother was Eadgifu. She was the daughter of the Anglo-Saxon king Edward the Elder.

In 939, Louis married Gerberga. She was the sister of Otto I, the Holy Roman emperor.
