VALENS
328 - 378

Valens was Eastern Roman emperor from 364 - 378.

His brother was Valentinian I, the emperor over the West Roman Empire.

Valentinian repulsed the Alemanni, and other German invaders from Gaul. The Gothic kingdom under Hermanric was located north of the Danube.

The Visigoths eventually managed to kill Valens in the Battle of Adrianople.
