Elizabeth, Empress of Russia
ELIZABETH
1709 - 1762

Elizabeth was daughter of famous Peter I the Great. She ruled Russia as their empress from 1741 until 1762.

Her mother was Catherine I.

Elizabeth was a smart woman but couldn't fill her father's shoes. But then again, who could have.

The first Russian university in Moscow came into existence thanks to her, as did the Winter Palace in St Petersburg. Elizabeth liked to spend money. People also mentioned her beauty, double chin and all.
