The Battle of Ramillies was part of the War of the Spanish Succession.

Ramillies is a town in today's Belgium.


Who fought?

The British, Dutch, and Danes with 62,000 troops, led by John Churchill, who was the duke of Marlborough

vs.

the French with 60,000 troops, led by François de Neufville, who was the duc de Villeroi.


The allies won a huge victory.

The French lost 17,000 men (killed, wounded, or captured), the allies lost about 5,000 men (killed or wounded).
