THE VARANGIANS
 

The Varangians were Scandinavian people, from Sweden actually, who trekked all the way down to Constantinople. These guys had their peak from the 9th to the 11th century AD.

The tough man Rurik, founder of the Rurik Dynasty, was a Varangian.
