Marcus Aurelius was Caesar Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus until the year 161 when he became Roman emperor Marcus Annius Verus. He remained emperor until his death.

167-176 - A long and desperate war between Rome and a great confederacy of the German nations. Marcus Antoninus at last succeeds in repelling them.
