JACQUES CARTIER
1491 - 1557

Jacques was a French sailor who, sent by French King Francis I, explored the St. Lawrence River. He went twice and thoroughly annoyed the Iroquois both times.

King Francis couldn't care less about the Iroquois. He expected the expedition to come back with plenty of gold and diamonds, but everything Cartier and his men brought home turned out to be 100% junk.
