Francis II of France 1544 - 1560
FRANCIS II
1544 - 1560

Francis was king of France from 1559 - 1560.

His mother was Catherine de Médicis. His father was French King Henry II.

In 1558, Francis was married to Mary Queen of Scots.

Mary's mother was French Mary de Guise. This connection made the powerful and Catholic de Guise family the rulers of France in 1558.

The Huguenots answered with the Amboise Conspiracy.

Francis died young and was succeeded by his brother Charles IX.

Check out the French kings on the Governments in History page.
