Today, Thebes is Thivai, a city northwest of Athens in Greece. Back in the years, ancient Thebes was a force to be reckoned with.

If you are into legends and myths, Thebes is the city of your choice. King Oedipus, for example, was from Thebes.

Thebes had a major involvement in the Boeotian-Spartan War.
