Austrasia is a territory located in today's northeastern France, Belgium, and parts of west and central Germany.

The Merovingian Dynasty dominated the region, then came the Carolingian Dynasty and made Austrasia part of the Frankish empire.

Both dynasties were Frankish, hence Austrasia was a Frankish kingdom.
