TREATY OF VIENNA
1738

The Treaty of Vienna was the peace treaty that brought the end of the War of the Polish Succession. It was signed by France and Austria. The other parties involved in the war agreed to the terms in 1739.

What was agreed upon?

The French said they were fine with Frederick being king of Poland. Don Carlos of Spain could keep Naples and Sicily but had to give up Parma, Piacenza, and Tuscany. Sardinia-Savoy received Novara and Tortona. Stanislaw gave up his claims on the Polish throne and his Polish supporters said they too were fine with Frederick being their king.

France also agreed to accept the Pragmatic Sanction, a document composed by Charles VI in 1713.
