VENETIAN-TURKISH WAR
1715 - 1718

In 1715, the Ottoman Empire, led by Sultan Ahmed III, captured Morea, which is the Peloponnesus Peninsula, Greece) from Venice.

In 1716, Venice and Austria, led by Prince Eugene of Savoy, joined forces against the Ottoman Empire and fought their way to the Treaty of Passarowitz, which was signed in 1718.

Venice handed the Morea over to the Turks but kept the Ionian Islands and acquired additional territory in Dalmatia.
