Greco-Persian Wars.

The Greeks with their general Themistocles in the lead
vs. the Persians.
Also fighting in Greek colors was famous
playwright Aeschylus.
THE OUTCOME
The Battle of Salamis ended with a Greek victory. The Persians lost
about 300 ships, the Greek only 40.
It is said that the Battle of Salamis
was the first major naval battle that went on the records.
