THRACIANS

The Thracians were almost always divided among themselves. It follows that they were almost always under foreign rule.

Who ruled over them? The Macedonians/Greeks, the Romans, who established the Province of Thrace. Later, it was the Byzantine Empire and then the Turks.

Thracians were famous for being great warriors. The famous Roman gladiator Spartacus was from Thrace.

Ancient Thrace is today's Bulgaria, Romania, northeastern Greece, European Turkey and northwestern Asiatic Turkey, eastern Serbia and parts of Republic of Macedonia.
