VISCONTI FAMILY
...

The Visconti Family was from Milan and very powerful in almost all of northern Italy during the 14th and 15th century.

In detail there ruled:

Ottone Visconti, who lived 1207 - 1295 and was archbishop from 1262.

Matteo I Visconti, who was grandnephew of Ottone, and lived 1250 - 1322.

Galeazzo I Visconti, who was the son of Matteo and lived 1277 - 1328

Azzo Visconti, who was the son of Galeazzo and lived 1302 - 1339.

Azzo died without heirs and Luchino and Giovanni, sons of Matteo I, followed.

After their death, three of Giovanni's nephews followed: Matteo II, Bernabo, and Galeazzo II.

Galeazzo II died and his son Gian Galeazzo took over. Gian died in 1402.

Gian's son Giovanni Maria, who lived 1392 - 1447, was next. Giovanni was assassinated and it went downhill with the Visconti power from there on.
