SOCIAL WAR
90 - 89 BC

The Social War was also called the Italic War or the Marsic War.

This war was all about citizenship. The Roman allies were good enough to fight with and for Rome but were denied its citizenship and all advantages that came with it.

The allies didn't think that was fair and revolted. Rome gave in.

Gnaeus Pompeius Strabo, who was the father of Pompey the Great, fought in this war, and so did Lucius Cornelius Sulla.
