											Otto IV  1175-1218 
                  
 
                  Otto IV was Otto of Brunswick, or
            Otto Von Braunschweig in German. He was the nephew of 
									 Richard the Lionheart. 
                  His mother was Matilda, Richard's and 
									 John's sister. 
                  Otto's father was Henry the Lion of Brunswick. 
                    
			Otto was German king and Holy Roman 
            emperor (1209 - 1215). But before he became all that, he was brought up at Richard's court in 
            England. He even was made earl of York and count of Poitou and duke 
            of Aquitaine. 
			Otto got beat by French 
									 Philip II at the Battle 
            of Bouvines. He was excommunicated by  Pope Innocent.
