Pyrrhus 319-272 BC
Pyrrhus was a bright person.
He was a military commander and the king of
Epirus. Pyrrhus was also a writer.
In fact, according to
Plutarch,
Hannibal thought
Pyrrhus to be the best commander there was. Hannibal rated
Scipio second and himself third.
In 280 BC, Pyrrhus routed the Romans at the
Battle of Heraclea.
He won another victory over the Romans
at the Battle of Asculum in 279 BC.
