In Russian, Paul's full name and title was
Grand Duke Pavel
Petrovich because he was the son of Peter III.
As Paul I, he was Czar of the
Russian Empire from 1796 - 1801.
Paul's mother was
Catherine II the
Great.
Paul's wife was Grand Duchess Maria
Fyodorovna.
Paul joined the fight against France
in the
War of the Second Coalition.
Paul was assassinated and his son
Alexander I became his
successor.
Alexander was Paul's first child. He had
more children, Constantine, Nicholas (later
Czar Nicholas
I), Michael, and Anne.
