Justinian was originally
Petrus Sabbatius who
became Flavius Justinianus,
the Byzantine emperor from 527 until 565, or Justinian the
Great to his friends.
In 537, the now famous Hagia
Sophia Basilica, a major cathedral at Constantinople,
today's Istanbul, was completed. Or reconstructed rather.
Construction had been commenced under Constantine I in 325.
In 1453, it became a mosque. Today it is a museum.
