Francis was Holy Roman emperor from 1745 - 1765. Before that, he was Francis Stephen, duke of Lorraine and grand duke of Tuscany.

In 1736, Francis married a lady who could pretty much make anything happen, Maria Theresa. Together, they had 16 children.
