ROMANS VS. PICTS - Centurion 2010
ROMANS VS. PICTS

Centurion (2010)

Writer and director: Neil Marshall

How Close to the Facts?

Pretty much fiction all the way, except for the Romans and the Picts, of course.

The movie is set in the year AD 117, which is the year Roman Emperor Hadrian came to power. Hadrian ruled AD 117-138.

Reference is made to Julius Agricola (portrayed by Paul Freeman).

A Roman general with the name Gnaeus Julius Agricola did exist. In fact, he was the father-in-law of Tacitus the historian. Agricola was made governor of Britain in AD 77. He was in Britain from AD 77 to 84. He died in AD 93.
