PRISCUS OF PANIUM
? - ?
Painting Feat of Attila by Mór Than

Priscus, circled in the painting above, was a diplomat in the service of the Eastern Roman Empire and was one of the men who negotiated with Attila the Hun in 449 at Walachia, today's Romania.

Priscus wrote his work History in Greek. He actually holds it in his hand in the picture above. Of this work only fragments survived. The book, not the picture.

Priscus' home town Panium was a city located 93 miles, or 150 kilometers, west of today's Istanbul, Turkey.

Read Priscus at the court of Attila.
