Sir Edward Shepherd Creasy was a historian born in Bexley in Kent.

Edward was an Eton man, went on to King's College, Cambridge, was called to the bar in 1837, and became Sir and Chief Justice of Ceylon in 1860.

Edward married Mary nee Cottam, and produced five children.
